Inauguration of the Academic Year 2017/2018

Today, the Baltic Defence College has inaugurated a new Academic Year 2017/2018 with an Opening Ceremony of the Joint Command and General Staff Course (JCGSC).

From 02 until 11 August the College is conducting the Faculty Development Programme, which supports the Faculty members’ preparations for the incoming academic year. It also serves the new staff members to integrate within the College and respective departments.

Commandant's meeting with the Estonian Minister of Defence

On the 2nd August 2017, the Commandant of Baltic Defence College Major General Andis Dilāns (Latvian Army) together with his Deputy and Chief of Staff Colonel Jean Trudel (Canadian Army) and the Senior Estonian National Representative Commander Ivo Värk (Estonian Navy) had the honour to host Minister of Defence of Estonia Mr Jüri Luik, while the Minister was on his working visit to South-Estonia accompanied by Deputy Commander of Estonian Defence Forces Brigadier General Indrek Sirel (Estonian Army).

BALTDEFCOL contribution to the conference on Integrated Air & Missile Defence Eastern Europe

The BALTDEFCOL’s Dean, Dr Zdzislaw Sliwa acted as a Chairman during the conference ‘Integrated Air & Missile Defence Eastern Europe. Combatting the Regional Airborne Threat: Integration, Collaboration and Modernisation’. The conference took place in Poland, Warsaw on 26 and 27 July. The aim of the conference was: to enhance understanding of the collective and individual airborne threats facing Eastern European nations, to investigate the technological solutions and operational methods to mitigate the vulnerabilities that ‘low, slow and small’ threats expose and to discuss upgrading air and missile defence architecture in Eastern Europe to meet current and future mission requirements.
