Visit by theAmbassador of Poland to Estonia H.E. Mr. Robert Filipczak

On 15th February 2017 the Commandant of the BALTDEFCOL, Major General Andis Dilāns welcomed the Ambassador of Poland to Estonia H.E. Mr. Robert Filipczak who conducted a working visit along with the Minister-Counsellor Mr. Wacław Oleksy and the Polish Defence Attaché Colonel Ryszard Zając. The Commandant was accompanied by Dean Dr Zdzislaw Sliwa and the Polish Senior National Representative at the College COL Dr Miroslaw Smolarek.

During the visit the Ambassador Filipczak and Major General Dilāns discussed their perception of regional security challenges in the context of current developments and incoming BALTDEFCOL Conference on Russia. The discussion included such topics as regional cooperation in the broader format including Poland as neighboring country. MG Dilāns encouraged Poland’s representatives to consider wider cooperation with the College and extended participation of officers and civil servants in the courses including Civil Servant Course and Senior Leaders’ Course. The Commandant recognized Polish support for the College as valued partner in many aspects. Both sides expressed their desire to continue the cooperation looking for more opportunities to develop the partnership even further.

The visit was also an opportunity for the Polish Defence Attaché Colonel Zając to meet with current students of the HCSC and JCGSC to discuss their experiences related to courses.
