Visit of US cadets of Citadel programme

On 6th of July, a group of US cadets from Citadel programme attending the Summer School at the University of Tartu Skytte Institute paid a visit to the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL). The group was welcomed by the College Sergeant Major SGM Peeter Einbaum. The programme of the visit included a tour on the BALTDEFCOL facilities, standard presentation about the BALTDEFCOL and question & answers session.

Graduation Ceremony of the HCSC 2018 and JCGSC 2017/2018

On 21st of June, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) held a Graduation Ceremony at the Estonian National Museum. The ceremony was opened by the Commandant of the BALTDEFCOL Major General Andis Dilāns. In his speech, MG Dilāns highlighted the quality of leadership as the most important quality of an officer and also of a civil servant. He encouraged the students to be ready to be in charge as this is what the College has been preparing them – to be the future leaders of their nations. He also stressed the importance of the connections the students have established during their studies as these will be of priceless value in their future careers. MG Dilāns expressed gratitude to BALTDEFCOL’s staff, thanked the Course Directors and showed appreciation to all the family members for their support throughout the academic year.

Visit by XIX Joint Staff Course of Spanish Joint Staff College

On 20th of June, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) hosted a visit by XIX Joint Staff Course of Spanish Joint Staff College led by Brigadier general Luis Meléndez, Director of Diplomacy, Cultural and Defence Department. The delegation was welcomed by BALTDEFCOL’s Deputy Commandant / Chief of Staff Colonel Jean Trudel.

Higher Command Studies Course on International Study Trip

From 3rd to 8th of June, the students of the Baltic Defence College's (BALTDEFCOL) Higher Command Studies Course (HCSC) 2018 are conducting their second International Study Trip (IST) to Tallinn (Estonia), Riga (Latvia), Vilnius (Lithuania) and Warsaw (Poland) as part of Module 6 'Enhancement of deterrence through cooperation' and the exercise 'Cooperative Deterrer'".

The Baltic Defence College congratulates Major Uldis Gūtmanis on the award of the Order of Viesturs

On 3rd of May 2018, the President of Latvia H.E. Mr. Raimonds Vējonis awarded the Baltic Defence College's Joint Command and General Staff Course student Major Uldis Gūtmanis the Order of Viesturs, Fourth Class, and appointed him as an Officer of the Order for his selfless and conscientious service, significant contribution to the development of the Latvian National Armed Forces and excellent representation of the Latvian Army. The ceremony took place in the Riga Castle.

Higher Command Studies Course’s Introducing Estonia Trip

On 1st and 2nd of June, BALTDEFCOL's Higher Command Studies Course (HCSC) 2018 conducted a trip to the south-eastern part of Estonia. 
On the first day, the HCSC visited Kuperjanov Infantry Battalion and climbed Suur Munamägi, the highest peak in Estonia (318 m above sea level). After this effort, the group enjoyed resting and socializing at Kubija SPA Hotel.
