44th Conference of Commandants

Baltic Defence College (BALDEFCOL) Commandant Major General Vitalijus Vaikšnoras together with Dean Dr. Augustine Meaher attended the NATO Defense College's 44th Conference of Commandants hosted by the Austrian National Defence Academy in Vienna, Austria.

The conference allowed Commandants from throughout the alliance and beyond to share their knowledge and experience to ensure that the education offered by Professional Military Education institutions within NATO and by its partners instills the values and knowledge necessary to ensure interoperability across the spectrum of conflict.

The Commandants divided into thinking platforms to discuss specific topics with BALTDEFCOL Commandant Major General Vaikšnoras chairing the NATO Defense College as a Cornerstone for Alliance Higher Military Education. Major General Vaikšnoras selection as chairman is an indication of the high esteem BALTDEFCOL and he personally is held by his fellow commandants.

The Conference of Commandants is an annual high level event, drawing together the commandants/rectors of professional military educational institutions of NATO member countries our allies and partners in order to discuss current developments and trends in professional military education, to exchange views, knowledge and experience, as well to maintain and further develop cooperative military relations.
