Estonian Minister of Defence Mr Hannes Hanso visits the Baltic Defence College

Today, 24 November 2015, Estonian Minister of Defence Mr Hannes Hanso, who was sworn in this autumn, conducted a familiarization visit to the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) and Estonian National Defence College (ENDC). The Minister, together with the Estonian Chief of Defence, Lieutenant General Riho Terras; Permanent Secretary, Mr Mikk Marran, and a delegation from the Estonian Ministry of Defence, was met by the BALTDEFCOL Commandant, Major General Vitalijus Vaikšnoras, and several members of the college management.

During his visit, the Minister delivered a lecture to students of both BALTDEFCOL and the ENDC on current issues in defence and security policy.

During a brief meeting following the lecture, the BALTDEFCOL Commandant thanked the Minister for Estonia’s longstanding support as BALTDEFCOL’s host nation and confirmed development of bilateral cooperation. MG Vaikšnoras gave the guests a short overview on BALTDEFCOL’s current status and briefed them on the college’s main lines of effort, as well as the development plan for the future. The Minister in return assured that the BALTDEFCOL management can rely on full support for their efforts in continuing the development of the college.
