Visit by Rector of National Defence Academy of Georgia

Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) was honored by the visit of delegation of the National Defence Academy (NDA) of Georgia on 27 September.

Acting Rector of the NDA LTC Vasili Kopeikin, accompanied by Acting Head of the International Relations Division of the NDA Mrs Nino Getsadze and Senior Instructor of the Command and Staff College of NDA of Georgia LTC Bezan Kiknavelidze, the latter also being the graduate of the Joint Command and General Staff Course (JCGSC) 2014/2015 of BALTDEFCOL, had a comprehensive meeting with the leadership personnel of the College.

BALTDEFCOL Commandant MG Andis Dilāns together with Chief of Staff/Deputy Commandant COL Axel Pfaffenroth, Dean Dr Zdzislaw Sliwa and Legal Advisor Mr Olavi Jänes, briefed the Georgian delegation about the activities of the College. The Georgian delegation also took the opportunity to familiarize the BALTDEFCOL staff with educational program and main lines of effort of the NDA of Georgia.

The program continued with a working lunch with Georgian students attending the JCGSC 2016/2017 and a cultural program in the city of Tartu.

The meeting provided an excellent opportunity for the BALTDEFCOL and the NDA of Georgia to exchange views and ideas about the future cooperation between the two academic institutions. Specifically, an agreement to extend the period of validity of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two educational institutions in October 2011, for an additional period of 5 years, was signed in the framework of the visit.

The two organizations agreed to continue cooperation to develop civilian and military curricula, internal quality assurance procedures and mechanisms, as well as to implement students´ and academic staff exchange programs and other joint activities.
