NATO School Oberammergau Visit To BALTDEFCOL

The Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) welcomed NATO School Oberammergau’s Dean Colonel Timothy Dreifke (USA Airforce) and Lieutenant Colonel Remi Tremblay (CAN Army), the Director of Standards, Evaluation & Training Department on November 15-16, 2016, to discuss possible educational cooperation between two institutions. The delegation was welcomed by Colonel (ret) Dr. Zdzislaw Sliwa, Dean of BALTDEFCOL and Colonel Mark Hollis, Course Director of the Joint Command and General Staff Course (JCGSC).

The main scope of the visit was to determine partnership opportunities between NATO School and the Baltic Defence College. Colonel Hollis started the meeting by giving a brief overview of the JCGSC Course, followed by Dr. Zdzislaw who reviewed the Baltic Military Education System and the Baltic Defence College’s Educational Framework. Several ideas were discussed from faculty devleopment to exchange programmes, also sharing briefers to increase both institutions’ educational networks.

Both institutions came away from the event with a better understanding of the environment and a desire to cooperate on improving education. We look forward to future engagements and increasing our work with the NATO School in educating officers and civilians at the Baltic Defence College.
