The topic of SLC 2018 is ‘Back to the Nuclear Age?’. The SLC consists of a series of panels and lectures revolving around the overarching theme. The sessions will address the main nuclear powers’ doctrines and postures; regional issues; as well as the concepts and realities of deterrence, reassurance and credibility that lie at the heart of nuclear policies.

SLC 2018 kick-started with an address from the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Linas Linkevičius. The introductory panel with Mr Etienne de Durand, Deputy for Strategic Foresight and Counter-Proliferation at the Directorate-General for International and Strategic Relations at the French MoD; and Dr. Jeffrey Michaels, Senior Lecturer in Defence Studies, King’s College London provided a historical overview of conventional and nuclear deterrence.

A week long Senior Leaders’ Course is designed for flag officers and senior officials from the armed forces and government institutions of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, their allies and partners.
