COMMAND SENIOR ENLISTED LEADERS’ COURSE

The aim of the Command Senior Enlisted Leaders’ Course (CSELC) is to prepare Command Senior Enlisted Leaders to effectively advise, support and enhance strategic level leadership’s decision making to meet anticipated political and security challenges within a dynamic and complex Baltic Sea regional environment.

Description

The Curriculum of CSELC consists of 4 Study Modules: Initial unit, which is delivered online followed by 3 Modules delivered residentially. Initial unit is used for setting up a common framework for the course participants with regard to the Baltic Sea regional security and global security concerns. Also, providing an introduction to academic writing and critical thinking. During their studies, the course participants will have a chance to attend seminars, panel discussions, tabletop exercise, Annual Military History Conference and other academic activities. By the end of the course, the participants have to complete, present and defend a course paper. The CSELC is designed for self-motivated and experienced professionals, who have the requisite language skills in English to engage with their peers and want to excel during their time in the Baltic Defence College.

Methodology

The CSELC’s educational framework is predicated on a combined educational approach, including lectures, seminars, Baltic Military History Conference, small group (syndicate) activities and exercises to facilitate adult learning at an advanced level. Consequently, the primary responsibility for learning and achieving the specified learning outcomes is placed on the course participant. To help facilitate this, the CSELC – and the Baltic Defence College – aims to provide the best possible educational environment for learning to take place. The CSELC is designed to maximise the experience and knowledge already found at the Baltic Defence College and is bolstered with specific additional skills and cooperative support from external sources. Thus, active learning and the full participation and contribution of all course participants is heavily encouraged; this allows course participants to share their knowledge, experience and learning with others in an open and positive environment.
