On 3rd of June 2021, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) was honoured by the visit of the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Albania, Mr Niko Peleshi accompanied by the Commander of the Armed Forces Academy, Brigadier General Alber Mullaj.
During the visit, Brigadier General Ilmar Tamm, the Commandant of the College with the presence of the members of the College Management Group provided a briefing introducing the College as regional Professional Military Education (PME) organisation and highlighted the role of BALTDEFCOL in the overall military education system. The briefing included an overview of the education, including NATO and ESDC certified courses, and research priorities. Since the establishment, seven Albanian students have participated in our core courses and since 2016 Albanian flag is represented within the BALTDEFCOL family members.
The brief was followed by sharing experiences in respect to military education, which is connected with the ongoing development of PME in Albania. The areas of interest covered all the levels of military education with a specific focus on ensuring the continuous professional development of military personnel. The two leaders of educational organisations agreed to extend the future cooperation based on identifying mutual interests and possibilities in respect to both education and research. BG Tamm invited the Faculty of the Armed Forces Academy to observe specific educational activities as part of sharing experiences.
The visit ended with a mutual expression of the intention to continue and intensify the good cooperation.
