On 14th June, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) hosted a visit by H.E. Mr. David Král, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Estonia. The Ambassador was accompanied by LTC David Pastyřík, Military and Air Attaché, and MAJ Zuzana Brázdová, Deputy of Military and Air Attaché.
The high level guest was welcomed by the Commandant, Brigadier General Ilmar Tamm, and BALTDEFCOL delegation including the outgoing Deputy Commandant/Chief of Staff Col Jean Trudel, in-coming Deputy Commandant/Chief of Staff Col Dietmar Hartung, Dean Col (ret) Dr Zdzislaw Sliwa, and Dr Lukaš Dyčka, Lecturer on Strategic Studies, who represents the Czech Republic at the College.
The visit started with an office call and was followed by the briefing session. In the session, Ambassador received a general overview of the historical background, mission, and tasks of the College and learned about the various courses and related activities conducted at the BALTDEFCOL.
The following discussion was focused on the civil-military concept of education in the College as all the courses include both civil servants and officers. Ambassador Král expressed his interest in the academic events organised by the College, especially both conferences – Annual Conference on Russia and Baltic Military History Conference. BG Tamm invited the Ambassador to give a lecture to Higher Command Studies Course and it was highly appreciated as of his experiences related to international relations and the European Union studies.
