On 22 September, a delegation of representatives of mainly the Visegrád Group state institutions and think-tank community paid a visit to the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL). The visit was organised by a Transatlantic Security Initiative under US International Republican Institute (IRI).
The main aim of the visit was to facilitate awareness raising and network opportunities, and cross-border cooperation among the US, Visegrád Group, and Baltic states. On the other hand, this was the possibility to highlight the BALTDEFCOL as a successful pattern of regional cooperation between the Baltic states and discuss the most pressing matters of regional security.
During the visit, the delegation received a briefing on BALTDEFCOL's mission, vision, courses and research, and academic activities by Dr Asta Maskaliunaite, Director of the Department of Political and Strategic Studies (DPS).
After the briefing session, members of DPS gave an outlook on Baltic security that was followed by the round table discussion and a questions/answers session.
