Visit by the students of the Institute of Baltic Studies 

On 22nd October, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) hosted a visit of 30 students from the Institute of Baltic Studies. The Institute of Baltic Studies (IBS) organizes a series of events for foreign students from third countries studying in Estonia. The BALTDEFCOL faculty members introduced the college as an education and research institution and as an attractive employer within the Baltic region.

The students were welcomed by the Dean, Dr hab. Col (ret) Zdzislaw Sliwa. Dr Asta Maskaliunaite, the Director of the Department of Political and Strategic Studies in cooperation with Ms Tiia-Triin Truusa, the Manager of Academic and Outreach Activities gave an overview of the education and research at the college, also highlighting the internship and fellowship opportunities. Afterward, the Lecturer in Eastern European and Russian Studies, Mr. George Spencer Terry gave a short lecture on regional security.

The Institute of Baltic Studies (IBS) is an independent, non-profit policy research and development think tank in Estonia that aims at assisting the development of public policy in the Baltic Sea region by providing high-quality socio-economic analysis. IBS main areas of expertise fall into three broad domains: science, technology, and innovation policy, industrial economics and regional development; social cohesion policies in the areas of labour, migration and development, immigrant integration and fundamental rights; and policy analysis, policy and programme evaluation and impact assessment studies related to the above.
