Visit by General Rajmund T. Andrzejczak, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces
On the 1st of February, General Rajmund T. Andrzejczak, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces paid his first visit to the Baltic Defence College (BALTDFECOL). The General was visiting Estonia and was invited by the EDF LTG Martin Herem. The Polish delegation were accompanied by Colonel Andrzej Dylong, the Defence Attaché of Poland to Estonia.
The Poland delegation was welcomed by Brigadier General Ilmar Tamm, the Commandant of the BALTDEFCOL,
members of the College Management Group and the Polish representatives at the College.
During the visit, the General received a throughout brief on BALTDEFCOL’s vision, mission and tasks
as well as education and academic activities, including the Joint Resolve Exercise, which is organised in cooperation
with the War Studies University (Poland).
Afterwards, General Andrzejczak used the opportunity to meet the students and gave a lecture
on “Strategic geometry on Eastern Flank/Eastern Front” to our Higher Command Studies Course, the Joint Command and Staff
Course and the Civil Servants’ Course. He highlighted that understanding the strategic geometry is essential to understanding
the current security environment. Afterwards, the students challenged him with very complex questions allowing considering
the role of Poland as a NATO member and as a security partner of the Baltic States.
The BALTDEFCOL has had excellent cooperation with Poland since its establishment. Four Faculty members are serving
at the College today, and in total, 38 students have graduated from BALTDEFCOL.
