Visit of Ms Gabrielle Cowan, Chargé d’Affaires of U.S. Embassy in
Tallinn
On 07 November 2022, Ms. Gabrielle Cowan, the US Embassy's chargé d’affaires
in Tallinn, and Bryan Burke, US Embassy Political Officer, visited the Baltic
Defence College to discuss the newly released US National Security Strategy
and how it relates to US security interests in the Baltics.
The visit was connected with the contribution to an elective focusing on
regional security. The discussion with the students of the Joint Command and
General Staff Course provided an opportunity to discuss USA global security
strategy with a highly experienced State Department professional and Senior US
Representative to Estonia. The interactive debate covered not only regional
but also broader aspects of security.
After the classroom discussion, Ms Cowan accompanied by Mr Burke and US Senior
National Representative LTC John D. Looney, met with the Deputy Commandant and
Dean to discuss ongoing cooperation and future opportunities. During the discussion, Ms. Cowan identified the unique value of the Baltic
Defence College to provide a multinational education environment that builds
and strengthens our NATO Alliances and Partnerships. It was also an
opportunity to deliberate educational opportunities between BALTDEFCOL and US
Professional Military education institutions.
