Visit by Mr Dan Gardner

On 15 October the BALTDEFCOL had the pleasure to welcome Mr Dan Gardner, the Director of the Readiness and Training, Policy and Program Directorate and a member of the Senior Executive Service in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness.

Mr Gardner participated in the “Conference of Baltic Defence College participating countries” on 13-15 October. During his stay in Tartu the high level guest visited the BALTDEFCOL and delivered a lecture on the training transformation initiative of the US Department of Defense to the students of the HSCSC and the AICSC, and the Directing Staff of the College.

The lecture was followed by an informal meeting with the Commandant, BG Abols. The character of the meeting was very friendly.

Mr Gardner manages a team of professionals that advises the Secretary of Defense, through the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Readiness and USD, on all policies, resources, and issues related to the training of U.S. military forces.

In addition, Mr Gardner leads the recently commenced DoD Training Transformation Initiative, and as the OSD focal point for training and training-related activities, Mr. Gardner is the U.S. national coordinator for DoD training policies and programs impacting NATO and PfP training.
