Visit by US Ambassador to Latvia

Newly sworn US Ambassador to Latvia H.E. Ms Judith G. Garber visited the BALTDEFCOL on 15 December. H.E. Ms Garber accompanied by the Defense, Naval and Marine Attaché (DATT) to Latvia LTC Colin D. Smith and Chief of US Office of Defense Cooperation in Estonia LTC Robert R. Williams had a meeting and lunch with the BALTDEFCOL Commandant BG Gundars Abols. During the meeting BG Abols gave the American delegation a briefing about the BALTDEFCOL, its courses and future challenges.

The program in the BALTDEFCOL also comprised two lectures by H.E. Ms Garber to the current courses. The students of the HCSC 2009 had the privilege to listen the remarks of H.E. on “US interest in the Baltic region“ and the students of the JCGSC 2009/2010 on “NATO Defence Spending in the 21st Century”.
