ADL Cooperative Development Team training on 1-3 June

In order to maintain the momentum of building on NATO and self sustained national Advanced Distributed Learning the BALTDEFCOL hosted on 1-3 June the Cooperative Development Team (CDT) training in cooperation with the Allied Command Transformation (ACT), the United States Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) and the International Relations and Security Network (ISN).

This training event which was officially opened by BALTDEFCOL Commandant Brigadier General Gundars Abols´ welcome speech was open to all NATO and Partner nations and was attended by Directing Staff members (as potential ADL project managers) and everyone else who is related with distant learning (ILIAS platform in our building). The event covered several areas of new learning trends, cutting edge of technology, useful experience in course development and much more.

More precisely three primary areas in ADL development were covered: managerial role-training on managing ADL projects, budget planning and lifecycle of ADL development; Instructional designer-raining on instructional design techniques; and multimedia designer-training on developing multimedia in ADL courses and learning management system integration as well as best practices.

ADL integrates technology to facilitate education when time and space separate tutor from student. BALTDEFCOL seeks to maintain currency with these new tools as well as more formal links with NATO agencies and like-minded organizations. ADL is not new; it is simply the application of electronic and remote methods to learning by correspondence, a principle that has been applied successfully in education since the 19th century.
