Commandant's official visit to Israel 7-11 DEC 2003

The Commandant made a highly successful and profitable visit to the Israeli Defence Colleges Commandant, MGen Amos Yadlin 7-11 DEC 2003. The delegation included Kristine Atmante from the Institute for Defence Studies.

The visit included a number of briefings and discussions, a lecture to the Israeli National Security Course - made up of Israeli Defence Forces officers and other senior government officials, laying a a wreath at the "Yad Vashem" Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem as well as visits to the Israeli Navy and the Armoured Corps Museum. All briefings and discussions were completely open and honest, creating a framework for the use of the many contacts that we developed during the visit in BALTDEFCOL activities.

During the visit we met with Mr Joseph Shekel, the Estonian Honary Consul. The Baltic state thank for the Israeli hospitality to our hosts came in the form of a dinner hosted by the Ambassador of Lithuania, H.E. Dr. Prof. Alfonsas Eidintas.
