BALTDEFCOL Commandant visited French War College

On 6th of February BALTDEFCOL Commandant Major General Vitalijus Vaikšnoras together with his Military assistant Major Vilius Zagurskis visited French War College, École de Guerre, in Paris. The main objectives of the visit were to get familiar with the structure and capabilities of the French College, to enhance cooperation between two institutions as well as to heighten visibility of BALTDEFCOL.

The visit started with a meeting with Lieutenant General Jean-Marc Duquesne, the Director of the Institute for Higher National Defence Studies and of Advanced Military Training. During the meeting both counterparts shortly introduced each over to their respective organizations, and discussed possible areas of cooperation.

Later the BALTDEFCOL delegation was welcomed by the Rear Admiral Marc de Briancon, Director of École de Guerre. During the meeting French experts provided a series of briefings to inform BALTDEFCOL Commandant about the composition of College, its respective courses and curriculum.

Both sides discussed in-depth matters such as quality assurance of the education process, education methods and processes applied in respective institutions, audit of PMEs, as well possible future cooperation. It was agreed to intensify cooperation and relations between the BALTDEFCOL and École de Guerre in terms of student and faculty exchange, mutual support to the study trips and staff rides, and participation in various conferences organized by both institutions.

It was good opportunity for the BALTDEFCOL delegation to get more information on how strategic and operational level military education is organized in France.
