Visit by Mr Ivan Rusnak,First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine

On 22nd March 2017 the Baltic Defence College hosted a working visit of Mr. Ivan Rusnak, First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine. He was accompanied by COL Valerii Dobrogurskyi, Deputy Commandant of the National Defence University of Ukraine and COL Olexander Koberskyi, Defence Attaché of Ukraine to Estonia. The delegation was accompanied by Mr. Ingvar Arst from the International Cooperation Department of Estonian Ministry of Defence.

The purpose of the visit was to familiarise the Ukrainian delegation with the Professional Military Education (PME) system and institutions in the Baltic States. It was also related to the reform of national military education system in Ukraine.

The BALTDEFCOL delegation was led by the Commandant Major General Andis Dilāns. He provided an overview of PME in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, highlighting the role of BALTDEFCOL in the overall military education system. The Dean gave a detailed briefing introducing all the courses taught at the College. During the discussion that followed, both sides reviewed the status of bilateral cooperation and considered Ukrainian support for the College in the future.

Mr. Ivan Rusnak had also a meeting with all the Ukrainian students of the Higher Command Studies Course and the Joint Command and General Staff Course.
