Visit by H.E. Mr Kevin Rex, Ambassador of Canada to Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania

On 5th of April 2019, we hosted H.E. Mr. Kevin Rex, Ambassador of Canada to Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania at the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL).

After the welcome address by the College leadership, Ambassador Rex received a briefing on BALTDEFCOL - its mission, vision, academic courses, ongoing activities and future developments. During the discussions, he expressed great interest in the educational model of BALTDEFCOL, especially related to the joint teaching of military and civilian students in all the courses as a constituent of comprehensive approach toward security studies.

As part of his visit, Ambassador Rex also met the Canadian student currently studying at the BALTDEFCOL. The value of education in the Joint Command and General Staff Course was recognised especially as of multinational composition of faculty and students allowing sharing experiences and perception of defence matters.

The visit served as a continuation of a long-term cooperation between BALTDEFCOL and the Canadian Forces College. Both Professional Military Education organisations have supported each other for many years by exchange of faculty and lecturers, by participating in academic conferences. Their faculty has acted as Subject Matter Experts during BALTDEFCOL exercises sharing experiences toward professional education of military and civilian personnel.
