Change of Command Ceremony

On 19 June 2020, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) Change of Command Ceremony took place in Tartu. The event was honoured by the presence of high level representatives of the Defence Ministries and Defence Forces of the Baltic states, former BALTDEFCOL Commandants Estonian Major General Meelis Kiili and Lithuanian Major General (ret) Vitalijus Vaikšnoras as well as Ambassadors, Defence Attachés, heads of partner professional military education institutions and other high level officials.

Ending our Academic Year 2019/2020 with Staff Meeting

Today, the family of the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) gathered to the Main Hall to hold the last Staff Meeting in Academic Year 2019/2020. The meeting was the last assembly for the Commandant MG Andis Dilans (LVA Army) as the next week the leadership of the BALTDEFCOL will be handed over to Estonia.

Graduation Ceremony of Higher Command Studies Course 2020

On 4th June, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) hosted its third and last Graduation Ceremony of the Academic Year 2019/2020. The Higher Command Studies Course (HCSC), encompassing 20 students from 12 different NATO and partner nations, started its journey at the BALTDEFCOL six months ago.

Education process continues at BALTDEFCOL

Since 16th of March, Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) faculty had to rearrange all the education and teaching processes to exploit distance learning opportunities. To prevent spread of COVID-19, the courses, electives, modules, lectures and presentations are conducted in online environment, which involves video lectures, meetings, discussions, working groups, chats and virtual syndicate rooms.

Virtual Graduation Ceremony of the Civil Servant´s Course

On 6th April, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) hosted its very first virtual Graduation Ceremony of Civil Servant's Course (CSC) 2020. This year 8 participants from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have successfully completed education. In total, within 15 courses 140 civil servants graduated from the course.

BALTDEFCOL hosted its Operational Level Energy Security Course online

Since 23 March, the Baltic Defence College has been executing the Operational Level Energy Security Course, which is certified as a NATO course. College participants from the Higher Command Studies Course, the Joint Command and General Staff Course and the Civil Servants Course were joined by two external participants.

First “NATO Intermediate Strategic Communications Course” is conducted in Baltic Defence College

From March 23 to 27, the “NATO Intermediate Strategic Communications Course” is conducted in Baltic Defence College. The aim of the course is to educate military and civilian decision makers and planners how to ensure the full integration of StratCom into operations and crisis management situations at all levels within their headquarters in support of their execution.

Visit of POL War Studies University

The Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) hosted a visit of faculty and students of the Poland’s War Studies University (WSU), which is located in Warsaw. The visit was a part of the Staff Ride “Kurland 1944” as a section of the familiarization with the Baltic countries and their military history.
