On 11th of February, Major General Michel Delion, Director of the Centre for Doctrine and Command Teaching (CDEC) paid a visit to the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL). High level guest accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel Alain Moulia, Head of Formation office and Reserve Officers' Staff College Deputy Commander (CDEC/ESORSEM) was welcomed by Major General Andis Dilāns, Commandant of BALTDEFCOL and College Management Group and faculty members.

Seminar “Know yourself, Know your Adversaries”

The Baltic Defense College organized a seminar “Know yourself, Know your Adversaries” related to regional security developments and major exercises in the vicinity of the region borders. Within a sequence of lectures and panel discussions, the external experts shared their knowledge in relation to the topic in support of this academic event.

Command Senior Enlisted Leader Course After Action Review Conference completed in Varde Denmark

The Baltic Defence College successfully conducted in 2019 the pilot Command Senior Enlisted Leader Course (CSELC) with 13 participants from eight countries. The course was highly appreciated by the participants and sending nations. As the continuity of the CSELC project, the nations’ being involved in the creation of CSELC course concept and those interested in the project, conducted last week the After Action Review conference at the Royal Danish Army Non-Commissioned Officers School. For this important coordination event as many as 22 high-ranking NCOs, Officers, and members of academia from 14 nations and NATO made their way to Varde.

Visit by General (ret) Hans Lothar Domröse, Former COM JFC Brunssum

On 13. January the Baltic Defence College was honoured by the visit of General (ret) Hans Lothar Domröse. General Domröse, who has previously been Senior Mentor to Senior Leaders Course, visited the college in connection to the Opening Ceremony and delivered the opening lecture of HCSC 2020 and CSC 2020 titled “NATO in the Era of Global Disruption”. General (ret) Domröse, was awarded with BALTDEFCOL Medal of Merit Gold.

Freedom Defenders Day of Lithuania

Lithuania commemorates day of Freedom Defenders annually on 13 of January to honour the 14 unarmed civilians who died to defend its recovery of independence. It has always been both poignant and celebratory event. The candle, as symbol of the memory, is lit on window’s sill across Lithuania and by the Lithuanian communities abroad. Thousands of people put a forget-me-not flower on their chest to make a statement that we accept this gift of freedom and we are thankful for the sacrifice that was made in order to grant it for us.
