Staff Meeting concluded an extraordinary year – 2020!

JCGSC oral exam completed

On 2nd - 4th December, the students of the Joint Command and General Staff took the Oral Exam. Currently, due to the threat posed by COVID-19, all students have been on distance learning mode since 23rd  November. Therefore, the Oral Exam was conducted as a remote examination session conducted via MS Teams platform in virtual classrooms.

Graduation Ceremony of the Command Senior Enlisted Leaders’ Course

Today, on 1st December, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) held a Graduation Ceremony of Command Senior Enlisted Leaders’ Course (CSELC) 2020. It was the second edition after a successful pilot course in autumn 2019.

CSELC 2020 is back in business

Starting from 16th November the Command Senior Enlisted Leaders` Course (CSELC) returned to the daily study routines in format of the residential studies. Like with the first residential period delivered in September-October 2020, the course participants traveling from 10 countries, had to go through the self-isolation.

Latvian celebration of Lāčplēsis Day and Independence Day

The state of Latvia was proclaimed on 18th November 1918. However, its existence had to be defended against the supporters of former German and Russian empires and the Red Army of the Soviet Russia. This military conflict was later named the Latvian War of Independence.

The Virtual Conference of the International Society of Military Sciences

The International Society of Military Sciences (ISMS) Conference 2020 was organised by the Finnish National Defence University (FNDU) in Helsinki and was headed by Professor Hannu Kari, the President of the ISMS. This year the Conference was delivered virtually using ZOOM and YouTube as forums for panel discussions and to observe this academic event.

Faculty Development Programme – learning through the academic year

On 26th of October, Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) conducted a Faculty Development session that is a part of Faculty Development Programme (FDP). FDP is designed to promote a culture of continuous improvement and support the Quality Management System. The programme covers all Professional Development activities throughout the academic year.
