CSELC 2020 is back in business

Starting from 16th November the Command Senior Enlisted Leaders` Course (CSELC) returned to the daily study routines in format of the residential studies. Like with the first residential period delivered in September-October 2020, the course participants traveling from 10 countries, had to go through the self-isolation.

Latvian celebration of Lāčplēsis Day and Independence Day

The state of Latvia was proclaimed on 18th November 1918. However, its existence had to be defended against the supporters of former German and Russian empires and the Red Army of the Soviet Russia. This military conflict was later named the Latvian War of Independence.

The Virtual Conference of the International Society of Military Sciences

The International Society of Military Sciences (ISMS) Conference 2020 was organised by the Finnish National Defence University (FNDU) in Helsinki and was headed by Professor Hannu Kari, the President of the ISMS. This year the Conference was delivered virtually using ZOOM and YouTube as forums for panel discussions and to observe this academic event.

On 26th of October, Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) conducted a Faculty Development session that is a part of Faculty Development Programme (FDP). FDP is designed to promote a culture of continuous improvement and support the Quality Management System. The programme covers all Professional Development activities throughout the academic year.

"In Memoriam" Charity Run

Today, on 23rd October, in a cloudy early morning our Baltic Defence College members gathered around the Anne Kanal in Tartu to commemorate the fallen Lithuanian soldiers. “In Memoriam” charity run has been organized by the Lithuanian faculty and students from the Joint Command and General Staff Course for a sixth time this year with the aim to remember and support the families of passed-away Lithuanian soldiers.

Virtual Baltic Defence Study Trip

The students of the Joint Command and General Staff Course (JCGSC) visited the capitals of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as part of their annual Baltic Defence Study Trip. This annual Study Trip has been an integral and important part of the course curriculum, providing the students with an opportunity to stay connected to realities of regional security and defence matters. Unfortunately, in the light of COVID-19 pandemic, this year the study trip was conducted virtually.

CSELC is designed for filling the educational gap the Nations have, and to prepare Command Senior Enlisted Leaders (CSELs) for the service in the National and Multinational environment on the strategic level.

Visit by the General Graziano, Chairman of the EU Military Commitee

On 2nd October, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) had a privilege to host the visit by General Claudio Graziano, the Chairman of the EU Military Committee and his entourage. The high-level guest was welcomed by the Commandant, Brigadier General Ilmar Tamm, Colonel Jean Trudel, the Deputy Commandant and Chief of Staff, Col (ret) Dr hab Zdzislaw Sliwa, the Dean and College Sergeant Major Peeter Einbaum.
