We are looking for a lecturer to teach, plan and co-ordinate modules of our courses (operational and strategic level) in the area of the NATO capabilities category “Strategic Leadership and Military Ethics”. This person will educate military staff officers and selected civil servants of NATO/EU nations and PfP countries and contribute to their professional development. His or her contribution to our applied research and conduct of conferences and seminars will be appreciated.

I MAIN DUTIES
- Develops and teaches modules, electives and/or classes to students of all courses in the areas of strategic leadership, military ethics and related topics.
- Acts as a source of expertise to BALTDEFCOL staff and students in the execution of their tasks and assignments.
- Participates in the supervision and assessment of academic assignments given to students.
- Undertakes applied research relating to the area of expertise.
- Performs duties of a Syndicate Guiding Officer in accordance with Commandant’s Order (if directed).
II OTHER DUTIES
- Contributes to academic events of BALTDEFCOL (e.g. conferences, seminars, roundtables) within the area of expertise.
- Represents BALTDEFCOL at external activities (e.g. conferences, seminars, courses) related to the area of expertise.
- Networks with relevant educational and research institutions.
III QUALIFICATIONS
1. Essential qualifications
- Command/leadership experience;
- Advanced academic degree.
- Professional experience gained through participation in operations, organisations and/or exercises;
- An experienced leader with a broad professional background, including expertise in:
- strategic leadership and vision development;
- expertise in leader development and excellence in complex environments;
- understanding the ways how to employ different methods of decision making (individual and groups) within an inter-organisational context;
- the role of ethics in leadership.
- Graduated from a General Staff Course / Joint Command and Staff Course or civilian professional equivalent;
- Experience in delivering education in an academic environment, certified military instructor, and/or experience in delivery education in the military environment;
- Ability both to act as a part of a team and pursue individual initiatives and tasks;
- Flexibility, creativity, dynamism and a result-oriented approach to duties;
- Eloquence in communicating his/her thoughts and ideas to a critical audience;
- Language: English (STANAG 6001, level 3.3.3.3. or a comparable language performance profile)
2. Desirable qualifications
- Advanced academic degree in Management, Leadership, Strategic Studies or related field;
- Military Command experience;
- Demonstrable credentials in military ethics;
- Professional experience gained through participation in international military operations, organisations and/or exercises;
- Multinational or joint staff service experience;
