We are looking for a lecturer to teach, plan and co-ordinate modules of our courses (operational and strategic level) in the area of management and organisational studies. This person will educate military staff officers and selected civil servants of NATO/EU nations and PfP countries and contribute to their professional development. His or her contribution to our applied research and conduct of conferences and seminars will be appreciated.

I MAIN DUTIES

  1. Develops and teaches modules, electives and/or classes to students of all courses in the area of management and organisational studies;

  2. Acts as a source of expertise to BALTDEFCOL staff and students in the execution of their tasks and assignments;

  3. Participates in the supervision and assessment of academic assignments given to students;

  4. Undertakes applied research relating to the area of expertise.

II OTHER DUTIES

  1. Contributes to academic events of BALTDEFCOL (e.g. conferences, seminars, round tables) within the area of expertise;

  2. Represents BALTDEFCOL at external activities (e.g. conferences, seminars, courses) related to the field of expertise.

  3. Networks with relevant educational and research institutions.

  4. If requested, serves as Syndicate Guiding Officer to enhance student education.

III QUALIFICATIONS

1. Essential qualifications

  • Professional experience gained through management of international military operations, defence capabilities, and/or project-based work;

  • A professional with a broad leadership and management background, including expertise in

    • project management (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing a project) and resource planning;
    • project or capability planning on national or international levels;
    • experience in preparing decisions for organisational change and innovation;
  • Experience in delivering education or training in an academic environment;

  • Language: English (STANAG 6001, level 3.3.3.3. or a comparable language performance profile).

2. Desirable qualifications

  • Advanced academic degree in Management, Economics or related field;
  • Certification in a Project Management framework;
  • Graduated from a General Staff Course/Joint Command and Staff Course;
  • Attended the ‘NATO Academic Instructor Course’ at NATO School Oberammergau, or an equivalent course at other educational institutions;
  • Relevant command, national staff, or multi-national staff experience;
  • Eloquence in communicating his/her thoughts and ideas to a critical audience;
  • Flexibility, creativity, dynamism and a result-oriented approach to duties;
  • Ability both to act as a part of a team and pursue individual initiatives and tasks.
