Annual Conference of International Society of Military Sciences held

Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) Dean Col (ret.) Dr Zdzislaw Sliwa participated in the International Society of Military Sciences (ISMS) Annual Conference 2016 in Warsaw, Poland on 12th to 14th October 2016.

The ISMS was organized and hosted by the War Studies University (WSU), former National Defence University, and presided by Professor Ryszard Szpyra from the WSU. The presidency has now been transferred to Norway, which will host the conference in 2017 year.

BALTDEFCOL Dean participated in the ISMS Council meeting which main focus was on the current status of the organization, update of the activities of member institutions and the future of the ISMS. During the conference Dr Sliwa gave a briefing on “The Russian National Guard – a warning or a message?” to the Russia Working Group which was created by the National Defence University of Finland during ISMS Conference in 2015.

The International Society of Military Sciences was established in October 2008 as a society intended for continuous research and quality academic education in military arts and sciences in a broader sense. BALTDEFCOL has been one of the founding organizations of that Professional Military Education network. The purpose of the organization is to build a network for creation, development, exchange and diffusion of research and knowledge about war, conflict management and peace support efforts.
