Annual International Night at BALTDEFCOL

On Thursday, 09 March Baltic Defence College’s staff and faculty, students, family members and invited guests gathered for the annual International Night to celebrate the friendship of the 25 nations currently represented at the College´s staff and student body. The event offered a unique opportunity to experience the cultures, customs, foods and drinks of the nations represented at the College.

The event was opened by the BALTDEFCOL Commandant BG Ilmar Tamm who welcomed everyone for an evening with many cultural impressions, interesting personal communication, lots of good food and entertainment.

In the course of the evening, BALTDEFCOL Framework Nations – Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania – had prepared national performances including singing, dancing, and sword fighting.

No International Night will pass without a traditional fundraiser organised by the BALTSPOUSES. The collected funds of almost 2500 euros will this year go in support of the “Diana Podalyanchuk” Charitable Foundation and the “Shahina” Centre in Ukraine.

First conducted in 2005 as “Baltic Night” with the aim of familiarizing the international staff members and students of the College with the history and traditions, cuisine and culture of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, the International Night has grown and evolved over time.

BALTDEFCOL thanks its students and staff members, BALTSPOUSES, all guests and performers for the great effort in making the event so enjoyable and entertaining!
