BALTDEFCOL Commandant participated in annual Nordic-Baltic Chiefs of Defence Meeting

On January 29 Commandant of Baltic Defence College Major General Vitalijus Vaikšnoras participated in Nordic–Baltic Chiefs of Defence (CHODs) meeting held in Mālpils, Latvia.

BALTDEFCOL Commandant was invited to address the participants on the current and future issues of the College. During his presentation Major General Vaikšnoras emphasized that BALTDEFCOL is unique and modern English language based institution which develops military and civil leaders in joint, comprehensive and multinational environment, and supports developments of defence and security systems in three Baltic States, among Allies and partner nations.

Commandant stressed that it is important to preserve multinational environment within the College by active participation and continuous secondment of staff members and students by countries in the region. Talking about Nordic-Baltic region, which faces very similar challenges, he emphasized the need of better cooperation in the field of Professional Military Education by sharing different modules of courses, harmonizing curriculums and interchanging intellectual potential. All presented ideas were well received by the participants of the meeting.

The Chiefs of Defence Meeting of the Nordic and the Baltic countries is held annually on rational basis.
