Baltic Coordination Group Meeting and duty trip to Lithuania

On 19th of March 2019, the Baltic Coordination Group (BCG) Meeting was held in the premises of the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence in Vilnius. Taking the occasion, Major General Andis Dilāns, Commandant of the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) met with Major General Vitalijus Vaikšnoras, Chief of the Defence Staff of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and former Commandant of BALTDEFCOL. Together, the two leaders discussed, among other things, the 20th Anniversary of BALTDEFCOL and MG Vaikšnoras’ upcoming lecture to the students of BALTDEFCOL Higher Command Studies Course in a very pleasant atmosphere. MG Dilāns extended an official invitation to MG Vaikšnoras to attend the BALTDEFCOL Joint Graduation serving as a culmination of the 20th Anniversary celebrations.

 

MG Dilāns also visited the NATO Energy Security Center of Excellence and had an office call with Director of the Center, Colonel Romualdas Petkevičiųs followed by a briefing on BALTDEFCOL. The meeting then continued with discussions and Q&A session between MG Dilāns, COL Petkevičiųs and COL Juozas Kačergius, Commandant of General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania. 

The BCG is a body referring to the Baltic Ministerial Committee and the Baltic Military Committee in relation to all questions linked to management and development of BALTDEFCOL. Its primary role is to review, evaluate and support BALTDEFCOL activities, use of resources and student administration.
