Baltic Coordination Group meeting held in Baltic Defence College
On 12-13 September 2016 the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) hosted the Baltic Coordination Group (BCG) meeting.
The semi-annual BCG meeting, conducted under the Chairmanship of Lithuania, gathered high level representatives of the three Baltic States Ministries of Defence and Defence Forces, and members of the BALTDEFCOL Management Group and Senior National Representatives (SNRs).
The comprehensive meeting, held in a very open and friendly environment, included discussions regarding BALTDEFCOL's educational and administrative issues. The BCG members were thoroughly briefed by respective Course Directors and Department Directors on the JCGSC 2016/2017, upcoming CSC 2016, SLC 2016 and HCSC 2017, as well as by the Dean on conferences and seminars. The audience was also briefed by representatives of J6 divisions of the Baltic States´ Defence Forces on the Command and Information System (CIS) requirements for education.
Focal topics of the agenda were also the review of the draft of the BALTDEFCOL´s Annual Activity Plan 2017 including Budget requests for 2017-2019, and the BALTDEFCOL Development Plan 2017 – 2025.
In order to develop the Curriculum for academic year 2017/2018 and strengthen the linkage between the deliverables of the BALTDEFCOL and the military requirements of the Baltic States’ Defence Forces, it was agreed to conduct an Educational Requirements Seminar 2017, chaired by the Commandant of the BALTDEFCOL and attended by the military and/or civilian representatives of the three Baltic States, in October 2016 in Vilnius, Lithuania.
The SNRs of participating nations attended the BCG meeting as well as had the opportunity to update the BCG members on the future contribution of their respective countries to the BALTDEFCOL.
BCG is a body referring to the Baltic Ministerial Committee and the Baltic Military Committee in relation to all questions linked to management and development of BALTDEFCOL. Its´ primary role is to review, evaluate and support BALTDEFCOL activities, use of resources and student administration.
