Baltic Defence College held a trilateral meeting
On November 16 Baltic Defence College held a trilateral meeting of the Commandant of the Baltic Defence College Gen Maj. Andis Dilāns, the Commandant of the Estonian National Defence College (ENDC) Lt Col Enno Mõts and Dr. Phillip A. Petersen – Vice President for Studies at the Potomac Foundation.
Additionally the meeting was attended by Lt Col Sten Allik – Chief of Centre for Applied Studies of ENDC and representatives of BALDEFCOL: the Dean Col. (Ret.) Dr. Hab. Zdzisław Śliwa; Director of Joint Command and General Staff Course Col. Mark Hollis; Director of Higher Command Studies Course/Senior Leader's Course Col. Albertas Dapkus and Col. Dr. Mirosław Smolarek – acting Director of Department of Operations.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the possible areas of cooperation between BALTDEFCOL, ENDC and the Potomac Foundation. The particular emphasis during the discussion was on the simulation system "Hegemon", created by the Potomac Foundation. The institutions have informed each other of the scope of their educational activities and presented the possible options for the future cooperation to consider them later. Dr. Petersen presented the Potomac Foundation, its main activities, area of research and history. Moreover, he presented in details a simulation system “Hegemon” and its capacities in the field of strategic wargaming. Following the lively discussion the participants agreed to consider further steps for strengthening mutual cooperation between the Colleges and the Potomac Foundation to underpin the education of the BALTDEFCOL courses which are preparing future NATO commanders and staff officers.
