Baltic Defence College hosts Academic Workshop On Small State Deployment Experiences

 

Last week on Thursday March 10 and Friday March 11 the Baltic Defence College hosted a workshop on the themes of small state deployment experiences. The papers featuring the event are a variety of topics from military and civilian scholars from Austria, Switzerland, Israel, Britain, Poland, Sweden and Estonia. The papers ranged in topics from: “Estonian lessons from peace operations , Iraq and Afghanistan,” presented by Dr. Eric Männik from the International Centre for Defence Studies Tallinn, to a broad view on “The Evolution of the Security Notion” presented by Major General (ret.) Dr. Zaleski representing the Polish Air Force Academy.

 

The workshop was attended by faculty members from the Estonian National Defence Academy, the Latvian National Defence Academy and from Tartu University. The workshop was one of several workshops held each year at the Baltic Defence College designed to foster international academic engagement and a broad discussion of security issues of interest and concern to the Baltic States.
