Baltic Defence College Joint Command and General Staff Course visited Standing NATO Mine Countermeasure Group 1 (SNMCMG1)
25 students of the Joint Command and General Staff Course and members of Directing Staff visited on 23rd August Standing NATO Mine Countermeasure Group 1 staff and ships in Tallinn.
The NATO Maritime Task group commander and his staff gave a brief on the principles of Naval Mine Warfare, ships and SNMCMG1 activities. The NATO Task Group is commanded by CDR Giedrius Permeneckas (LTU Navy) and composed by mine hunters from six different nations (LTU, LVA, NOR, GER, EST and POL).
SNMCMG1 is one of four NATO teams operating in the international arena. The mission of SNMCMG1 is to provide NATO with continuous MCM capability for NRF and NON-NRF operations and other activities in peacetime and periods of crisis and conflict.
