Baltic Defence College represented in 2nd Tartu City Marathon

 

BALTDEFCOL Directing Staff member and two Officers of the Joint Command and General Staff Course (JCGSC) participated in the 2nd Tartu City Marathon, held on the 5th October, 2013.

 

Lieutenant Colonel Mart Mikkelsaar, BALTDEFCOL Director of Support, successfully completed the full marathon of 42, 2 km.

JCGSC Lithuanian Officers, Major Aušrius Buikus and Major Gediminas Latvys, joined in the Tartu City Marathon’s half-marathon, 21,2 km race.

Tartu City Marathon is a unique marathon in Estonia, as every kilometre is different on the trail. The races run mainly through and nearby Tartu city by providing a great opportunity for sightseeing, while running.

This year, Tartu city marathon offered competition in full marathon (42,2 km), half-marathon (21,2 km), 10 km running and Nordic Walking race, as well as children’s races. Over 1700 adults and more than 2100 children from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Russia, USA and other countries participated.

The next challenge for BALTDEFCOL team is to take part in the Tartu Ski Marathon on the 16th February, 2014.
