Baltic Unity in Celebration: Lithuania and Estonia Commemorate Independence Days at BALTDEFCOL

In a powerful demonstration of Baltic unity and shared values, Lithuania and Estonia jointly celebrated their Independence Days on February 17, 2025, in Tartu, Estonia. This symbolic occasion was even more significant as it coincided with the 26th anniversary of the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL), a cornerstone of regional security cooperation.

The celebration was attended by participants of the Joint Command and General Staff Course (JCGSC) and Higher Command Studies Course (HCSC) and faculty and staff of the BALTDEFCOL, highlighting the institution’s role in fostering military education and collaboration among the Baltic states and their allies.

A formal ceremony took place at BALTDEFCOL, where speeches were delivered by the Commandant of the BALTDEFCOL, Brigadier General Alvydas Šiuparis, the Estonian Senior National Representative (SNR), Colonel Toomas Möls, and the Lithuanian Senior National Representative (SNR) Lieutenant Colonel Leonas Lukoševičius.

Their remarks highlighted the importance of independence, the shared history between Lithuania and Estonia, and the BALTDEFCOL’s role in enhancing regional security.
