Central European Forum on Military Education
On 20th to 22nd October 2014 the Commandant of the Baltic Defence College Major General Vitalijus Vaikšnoras accompanied by the Dean Dr Augustine Meaher and Commandant’s Military Assistant Major Vilius Zagurskis attended the annual Central European Forum on Military Education (CEFME) in Warsaw, Poland.
Besides the delegation from the BALTDEFCOL, this year’s meeting brought together many high ranking military officers and civilians from various military educational institutions in Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia as well as from NATO HQ.
The representatives of the institutions shared their ideas and perspectives on curriculum standards, cooperation in exchange of personnel, conferences, contribution and support to periodicals/magazines, student’s scientific conferences and other issues currently relevant. The ongoing NATO Defence Education Enhancement Program (DEEP) in Ukraine was discussed in more details. The Commandant of Baltic Defence College expressed the importance of the program and informed that BALTDEFCOL will support this initiative by NATO along with other CEFME partners.
The CEFME was founded in 2007 on the initiative of the Czech University of Defence. The goal is to support the development of education and training of military professionals. The meeting of Representatives of the Participating Universities and Colleges is carried out 2 times a year on the rotational basis. CEFME 2015 will be hosted by the Hungary in 2015.
