Biography

Lt. Col. Remigijus Baltrenas was commissioned as an officer after graduating from the Lithuanian Military Academy in 1994. During his career, he has attended the United States Marine Corps Command and Staff College and the Joint Combined Warfighting School at the United States National Defence University. He holds an M.A. in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. Additionally, he attended the course of the European Union Senior Mission Leaders in 2013.

From the start of his military career, Lt. Col. Baltrenas served in positions starting from platoon leader up to battalion commander, including assignments at the operational and strategic level of staffs. He led the planning and execution teams establishing several multinational military organisations such as the Lithuanian Infantry Brigade's affiliation into the Danish Division, and commanded the multinational Baltic Battalion for the NATO Response Force in 2010. In addition, he was a deputy for the infantry company in SFOR in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and the Provincial Reconstruction Team’s commander in Afghanistan as part of the International Security Assistance Force. His military career includes:
