On 8th May 2017 the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) delegation visited the Canadian Forces College (CFC), where they met the Commandant of the CFC Brigadier General Kevin Cotton and discussed with the leadership of CFC the management and educational system of both professional military education institutions, perspectives of the cooperation between BALTDEFCOL and CFC and exchange of faculty and experts related to international security.

Major General Dilāns personally invited Brigadier General Cotton to visit BALTDEFCOL. Later MG Dilāns had an opportunity together with Professor in the Department of Political Science at the Royal Military College of Canada Dr. Lubomyr Luciuk to address the Canadian Security Studies Course (CSSC) and CFC faculty during the Europe/Russia discussion.
The main topics was the security context of eastern Europe, when considering the relevant security challenges specific to Russia.
