Commandant’s visit to NATO Headquarters and the Joint Force Command Brunssum

On 3rd-4th March 2016, the Commandant of the Baltic Defence College Major General Vitalijus Vaikšnoras conducted a working visit to Belgium and Netherlands.

During his visit to NATO Headquarters in Brussels on 3rd March 2016, the Commandant met with Military Representatives (MILREP) of the three Baltic States. Major General Vaikšnoras briefed the MILREPs on current activities and developments of the college, its ongoing projects and plans for the future. The Baltic Military Representatives shared their views on current defence and security developments within the organization and discussed possible future cooperation between the college and the NATO Military Committee.
On 4th MAR 2016, the Commandant visited the Change of Command Ceremony of the NATO Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCB) at the Hendrik Barracks in Brunssum. The Commandant of the Baltic Defence College, along with numerous high ranking civilian and military representatives of NATO, partner nations and organizations, was invited to attend the Ceremony. After more than three years of service, General Hans-Lothar Domröse (GER A) was to leave JFCB, handing command over to his successor, General Salvatore Farina (ITA A).

The Baltic Defence College and JFCB interact regularly through visits and professional exchanges. Over the years JFC Brunssum has been one of the destinations visited by the students of Joint Command and General Staff Course in residence at the Baltic Defence College. Major General Vaikšnoras himself has paid a working visit to the JFCB. Such interactions have deepened friendships and mutual understanding between personnel of both organizations.
