Commandant visits the NATO Defense College

On 19-20 November 2013, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) Commandant, Major General Vitalijus Vaikšnoras, accompanied by his Military Assistant, CPT Vilius Zagurskis, conducted a two day visit to the NATO Defense College (NDC) located in Rome, Italy.

The delegation was welcomed by the NDC Commandant, Lieutenant General Arne Bård DELHAUG. During the meetings, both introduced the other to their respective institutions. The discussion delved deeper in to the areas of research, education programmes, quality assurance of the education process, outreach activities and cooperation. NDC personnel were very interested in the BALDEFCOL Visiting Fellows programme, faculty exchange opportunities, and the sharing of best practices.

The meetings provided BALTDEFCOL and the NDC an excellent opportunity to exchange views and ideas about potential developments in Professional Military Education and discuss possible future cooperation between the two academic institutions.

The NATO Defense College’s mission is to prepare senior officers, diplomats and civilian officials for positions in NATO, in NATO-related posts in national capitals, and in other multinational organisations.
