Commander of the Finnish Army Visits the Baltic Defence College

The Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) had the honour to host a visit by the Commander of the Finnish Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki, on October 6-7, 2025. This high-level engagement served to underscore the strong partnership between the Finnish Army and the BALTDEFCOL.

The visit was dedicated to in-depth discussions and professional engagement with the BALTDEFCOL's leadership and course participants. The programme commenced with a formal welcome to LTG Välimäki by the BALTDEFCOL Commandant, Brigadier General Alvydas Šiuparis.

A key element of the visit was LTG Välimäki’s dedicated lecture to the students of the Joint Command and General Staff Course (JCGSC) and the Civil Servants Course (CSC). The Commander delivered a lecture on the crucial topic of “The Land Component’s role in operations within the Baltic Sea region.”

Following this comprehensive address, the Finnish delegation and the BALTDEFCOL leadership met to discuss opportunities for further expanding bilateral cooperation.
