Cooperation Agreement signed with the University of Latvia
On June 17th, Rector of the Commandant of the Baltic Defence College Brigadier General Gundars Âbols and Rector of the University of Latvia Prof Marcis Auzins signed the agreement of cooperation.
The ceremony took place in the University of Latvia and was attended by the senior leadership of both institutions, faculty members as well as representatives of the ministries of defence and armed forces of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
The Parties will cooperate on the basis of equality and mutual benefit in the exchange of teaching staff to diversify the study programs and involve broader expertise into teaching; facilitation of participation of students in the study programs and mutual recognition of credits; participation in joint research programs and other scientific projects; and joint organisation of seminars, conferences and symposiums.
It is part of the BALTDEFCOL strategy to develop a network of academic partnerships in the Baltic States, in order to create new professional and educational opportunities for the College's faculty, students and graduates.
Both organisations - the University of Latvia and the BALTDEFCOL - also see each other as natural partners in maintaining international character of their research and education. The two institutions will now proceed with developing specific cooperation initiatives and projects at the level of institutes and departments.
