The BALTDEFCOL delegation continued building bridges and refreshing relationships with a visit to the United States Marine Corps (USMC) University. The USMC University is unique to the BALTDEFCOL in that it is the most like the Baltic Defence College accomplishing Professional Military Education (PME). The Commandant, Major General Andis Dilans continued to lead the delegation with an exchange of experiences related to PME and providing an understanding of the Baltic Region to participants.
The visit included an overview of BALTDEFCOL by MG Dilans with focus on “how BALTDEFCOL can cooperate with USMC University.” Dr. James Anderson, the Vice President for Academic Affairs provided an overview of the courses offered at the USMC University. Followed by LTC Jason Palma, USAF the Assistant Course Director for the Marine Corps War College the panel was concluded by Mr. Timothy Devlin, the Associate Dean for the College of Distance Education and Training. Lessons learned were exchanged with a focus on how the USMC integrates and educates future military faculty, accreditation and lessons learned managing a distance education program. The visit concluded with MG Dilans conducting an office call with the BG Thomas Gorry the President of the Marine Corps University.
During the office call, the two General Officers agreed to look into the USMCs participate in future conferences and the possibility of faculty exchanges. The trip continues to build understanding and build cooperation with US based PME institutions.
