This week has been full of events at the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL). Apart from hosting the 10th Annual Conference on Russia, the BALTDEFCOL hosted a Distinguished Visitors' Day and opened a conference hall named after the city of Tartu.
The BALTDEFCOL Commandant, Brigadier General Alvydas Šiuparis, welcomed guests, and they used the opportunity to congratulate the BALTDEFCOL on its 25th anniversary. They were also introduced to the BALTDEFCOL's history book "Excellence in Professional Military Education. Baltic Defence College".
During the event, the opening ceremony of the conference hall named after the city of Tartu was held. The mural painted by the Tartu city artist Ingmar Järve was revealed to the public. This piece of art depicts the Arch Bridge, the Town Hall, the Tartu University, the Botanical Garden, the parks and other locations and symbols of the city, but in a very simplified way to leave the viewer space to fill the missing streets with their memories.
