The College hosted during the weekend 07 - 09 November "Estonian Defence League seminar" with participants from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.
The aim of the seminar was to exchange ideas and directions for the use of voluntary national defence organisations in a changing security and defence environment by covering the following subjects:
- the relevance and necessity of territorial defence in a NATO country
- future tasks and capabilities of voluntary national defence organisations
- Civil-military Cooperation capabilities within the voluntary defence organisations.
The participants were firstly introduced to the British Territorial Army concept and national presentations on the current structure and plans for the voluntary defence organisations. These presentations were followed by discussions in small groups, which then were presented to the other participants commented and concluded by Brigadier General Michael Clemmesen.
His Excellence Mr. Margus Hanson, Minister of Defence in Estonia listened to the presentations and addressed the participants in a speech at the end of the seminar.
