Exercise COLLABORATIVE EFFORT 14 Continues into Second Week

Exercise COLLABORATIVE EFFORT 14 entered its second week with students of the JCGSC and CSC taking forward initial planning and developing detailed courses of action for a simulated NATO crisis response operation.

Organised into multi-discipline planning teams the students have taken a fictional crisis scenario, conducted complex analysis of the strategic and operational environments and developed potential responses based upon NATO capabilities and procedures.

The Exercise environment brings together the instruction of previous course modules on military theory, joint capabilities, operational frameworks and operational planning processes in order to provide students with the opportunity to translate theory into practise. An important aspect of the Exercise is the student led approach, where the Directing Staff provide minimal guidance, encouraging students to rely upon internal analysis and decision making.

Once the planning phase is complete the exercise will transition into operational execution, where the students will form a representative Combined Joint Task Force HQ undertaking joint combat operation within the same NATO response scenario.
