Exercise Collaborative Effort 2015

Exercise Collaborative Effort 2015

Between 20 February and 20 March, the students of the 2014/2015 Joint Command and General Staff Course (JCGSC) and 2015 Civil Servants Course (CSC) participated in Exercise Collaborative Effort 2015.

The Exercise Collaborative Effort is a command and staff exercise in which students practice campaign planning and design, and operational execution in a high intensity conflict scenario. The exercise was delivered in two parts, a planning phase and an execution phase. During the planning phase students were split into operational planning groups which were tasked to develop guidance and courses of action to support a NATO force deployment in a crisis region.

During the second phase the students man staff positions within a Joint Operations Centre and Operational Planning cells during a crisis. Using an original crisis scenario they practiced controlling a major joint operation where they had to achieve situational awareness and develop future operations in accordance with NATO objectives as previously planned operations are ongoing.
