On 17th February, the Baltic Defence College conducted another Faculty Development seminar that is a part of Faculty Development Programme (FDP). FDP is designed to promote a culture of continuous improvement and support the Quality Management System. The programme covers all Professional Development activities throughout the academic year.
This time, the Faculty Development seminar focused on assessment. The main aim of the event was to help the faculty gain a deeper understanding of assessment and refine assessment practices for Curriculum Development.
The event was facilitated by Dr Einike Pilli, who has been an educator and educational consultant for 20 years, specializing in adult education, lifelong learning and assessment. She has worked in the Lifelong Learning Centre at the University of Tartu and attended professional courses in Birmingham, Helsinki, Maastricht and Harvard University.
The seminar included a theoretical part of different definitions and principles of assessment, but also included group work on choosing assessment methods and development of assessment criteria for different modules. Next FDP seminar’s topic is Systems Approach to Training facilitated by The Finnish Defence Forces International Centre.
