On 26th January 2017 the Commandant BALTDEFCOL, Major General Andis Dilāns welcomed the Georgian Minister of Defence, H.E. Mr Levan Izoria at an official visit to BALTDEFCOL. His delegation consisted of H.E. Ms Tea Akhvlediani, Georgian Ambassador to Estonia, H.E. Mrs Lela Chikovani, First Deputy Minister of Defence of Georgia and Brigadier General Vladimer Chachibaia, Chief of Defence of Georgia, Estonian and Georgian Defence Attachés and high level representatives of the Georgian Ministry of Defence.
The Minister and his delegation were informed on the College´s history, mission, courses and research programme, particularly recognizing the participation of currently five Georgian officers and civil servants at the Higher Command Studies Course and the Joint Command and General Staff Course who are providing substantial added value to the education.
During the meeting Mr Izoria and Brigadier General Chachibaia offered Georgian expertise on regional security and defence matters to BALTDEFCOL´s courses, suggested to include Georgia in the study tour programme and expressed high interest to participate with Georgian representatives in BALTDEFCOL´s conferences. Mr. Izoria also took the opportunity to meet and discuss with the Georgian students. The visit ended with mutual expression of the intention to continue and intensify the good cooperation.
